Gengar build
Checked 21 October 2026 against build d2dfaee739 and repository 3c9641c9e7. Every listed move is in Gengar’s source pool; the route has not been playtested.

Gengar has special attack 1.42 versus physical attack 1.06, speed 124 and HP 97. Its default is Shadow Ball. The source pool includes Ghost, Poison and Normal moves. The stronger attack category has twice the weight when selecting new-move candidates; this is not a guarantee that every offer has twice as many special cards.
Move route
- Shadow Ball (ghost, projectile, special) evolves to Phantom Force and wants the Reflexes card.
- Hyper Voice for crowds evolves toward Uproar, also Reflexes.
- Toxic (poison, trail) evolves toward Poison Gas and wants Synthesis.
- Hex (ghost, bounce) evolves toward Poltergeist and wants Magnet. Hex also gained a co-op fix on 20 October so a guest’s Hex damages burned, poisoned, or slowed enemies.
Each evolution above needs move level 5, the named run stat card and selection of the gold evolution card. Permanent shop upgrades do not substitute. Leftovers adds regeneration based on 1.5% of maximum HP when equipped; Shell Bell is a damage-linked healing alternative. Choice Band gives +40% damage but prevents slot switching, so it trades flexibility for damage rather than being universally wrong.
Questions
What item should Gengar hold?
Leftovers if you need the 1.5% heal. Shell Bell if your damage is already high. Skip Choice Band unless you intend to stay on one move.
